PBR set to rock

BOOTS, chaps and cowboy hats! But it’s not a rodeo; it’s the starting league of extreme sports’ ultimate limit pusher, bull riding, and it is coming to Singleton for the very first time.

The Professional Bull Riders (PBR) Challenger Series launches the second of its 2008 series in NSW at Singleton on Saturday April 12.

The world’s toughest sport on dirt is a long and short round format in Singleton and riders will be wanting to make the grade to compete in Newcastle’s PBR Cup Event, the Brendon Clark Invitational, on May 30 and 31.

Staged at the Showgrounds, the PBR Singleton Challenger will showcase 45 Aussie riders vying for the $6000 prize money atop some of the country’s rankest bucking bulls that come from afar as Wagga Wagga, Yass, Sydney and Tamworth.

All 45 riders will contest an unyielding bull in the first round.

The top 10 scoring bull riders will close out the night’s three hour competition and event spectacular in a 10 man short-round buck out.

Gates open at 10am for Country Fest 2008 and the bull riding action kicks off at 6.30pm with opening fireworks and a smoke and choreographed dance show by the Evolution of Dance.

The prize money won at the PBR Challenger Series is a valuable incentive for bull riders because it increases their international standings and contributes towards their qualifying for the annual Built Ford Tough Series PBR World Finals in November in Las Vegas where they can win in the millions of dollars.

Get set for first-time PBR bull riding action on Saturday April 12 when Singleton’s Showgrounds are pounded with the heft of the hoof in 2008’s second PBR Challenger competition.

This is not a rodeo. This is the one and only Professional Bull Riders – the real deal!

A special offer is up for grabs to any person or business.

You can put your name or business name to any of the top 45 bucking bulls on offer for the first ever PBR in Singleton, that’s means you have a chance of winning the PBR Brendon Clark Invitational Extreme VIP Experience worth over $800.

You could win:

• two Diamond tickets for both nights 30 and 31 May

• two VIP Paddock Tours - behind the scene experience, both nights

• meet and greet with Brendon Clark with a photo to be supplied post event

• two Brendon Clark signed merchandise packs to include PBR Cap, PBR T-Shirt, PBR poster

• invitation to the official welcome (if applicable)

• invitation to the official after party (if applicable)

Details will be featured in next Tuesday’s edition of The Singleton Argus or contact Peter on 0402 769 242.
