TOMORROW, Saturday, September 20, the Singleton Under 11D team are to play Edgeworth in the grand final.
After achieving the minor premiership for the second year, a tight game is expected after both teams finished first and second at season end with only two goals difference in attack and three goals in defence.
This will be the third occasion that the team has made the final with unfavourable result on the previous occasions.
The team consisting of a goal keeper Jacob Worms, while small in statue plays well above his weight division and has conceded on average less than one per goal.
The first line of defence consisting of Luke Gibbs on the left, Trent Walker central defender and Brady McMillian on the right have proven difficult to pass for many attackers.
Our backs are ably supported with a number of sweeper defenders which has been filled by a number of different and extremely athletic players including Ryan Dean, Chris Duffie, and Alec Mathias. This same players group versatility is well proven when needed to play in both midfield and even in the front line attack.
Chris Fayers, Dane Crosby, Nick Hough and Jake Blenman have played the majority of the year in the midfield, where tireless effort is required to assist both the defensive and attacking lines.
In the front line Samuel Barry, Daniel Malloy and Bradley Millar have contributed heavily to the 43 goal tally this year – let’s hope this good form is plentiful on this coming Saturday.
GOOD LUCK BOYS.
