School ready for 150th celebrations

4/07/2008 11:58:00 AM
SINGLETON Public School will celebrate 150 years of public eduction in Singleton on August 8 and 9.

For more than a year, an organising committee has been hard at work preparing for the milestone, gathering a great collection of photographs and school stories to mark the occasion.

The celebration will be held at the school on the Friday with an assembly, fete from 11.30am to 2.30pm and a display of memorabilia.

This display will also be open to the public on Saturday, August 9 from 10am to 3pm.

P & C and committee member Jo Watkins said the display was a celebration of education over the past 150 years and was a mix between old and new, a display that would not only interest those with a direct connection to the school but anyone wanting to see how education has changed over the years.

A dinner dance will be held at the Singleton Civic Centre on the Saturday night at a cost of $65 per person.

The dinner includes hors-doevres and a two course meal, the band and drinks will be available to purchase at the bar.

For further details contact Jo Watkins on 0409 302 172 or visit the school’s website www.singleton.ps.education.nsw.gov.au.
