THE position of Singleton Mayor will be decided at Monday night’s council meeting.
The is the first meeting of the newly elected council.
At this stage it appears it will be a race of two, with combatants from the past two mayoral elections, Crs Fred Harvison and Sue Moore, set to run again.
While Cr Harvison has claimed the previous two votes by a margin of seven to five, the election of four new councillors at last weekend’s election may have shifted the balance of power to Cr Moore.
Cr Harvison has held the position of mayor since September 23, 2002.
The position of Deputy Mayor will also be filled, with incumbent Cr Paul Nichols unsure of whether he will run again this year.
Cr Nichols has defeated former Deputy Mayor Lee Gallagher eight votes to four in the past two votes for the position.
Both positions will be decided by ordinary ballots.
Councillors will also decide upon the delegates to various council and community committees and organisations, such as mine and electricity consultative committees, and heritage and traffic advisory committees.
