THE 136th Singleton Show kicks off on Friday, September 26, for two days of family fun and entertainment.
Singleton Show is the time when the entire Singleton community comes together to showcase the town’s talents.
In the early days, it was all about exposing the agricultural feats of the community with ribbons earning opportunity to represent the district at State level.
A ribbon at Sydney Royal was, and still is, a prestigious achievement and one that local breeders can build reputations upon.
These days Singleton Show has become the most comprehensive display of local agricultural pursuits, cooking and craft, horticulture, photography and art combined with a packed program of entertainment and ringside events to please the entire family.
That program of events has never been more comprehensive.
The return of horses to the main arena has brought with it a sense of excitement after they were sadly missed from the program last year because of the equine influenza outbreak.
This year they will be back, bigger than ever, with some very special entertainment secured.
In the arena you will have the opportunity to see trickster horse rider Sally Ham and the Stockhorse society members will put on a spectacular display combining their riding skills with the music of Singleton Town Band.
Take the time to look at the program, cut it out and take it with you to the Singleton Show and plan your visit around the ringside entertainment.
The pavilions will once again be full of entries in the various categories from the cooking, jams, scones, handicrafts, sewing, knitting, art, photography, fancy fibres, horticulture, flowers and not to forget the poultry and pigeons.
Let the youngsters see the Pirate Pete Magic Show or Professor Wallace’s Puppet Theatre.
There is also plenty to learn at Singleton Show.
See the demonstrations from woodworkers and woodturners, speak to the model train enthusiasts and learn about animals at the Oakvale Farm Animal Nursery.
“This is a chance for Singleton people to sit back and celebrate what we have here in Singleton,” said show president David Williams.
“This is a diverse community with many talents and the Singleton Show is the only time when all these people come together to showcase their talents at the one venue,” he said.
Visit the Singleton Show on September 26 and 27 for guaranteed fun for all the family.
