Apartments take shape

THE $15 million apartment block under construction at Civic Avenue will be complete by April 2009, weather permitting.

GWH Construction site supervisor Michael McCreedy said work on the apartments began this week.

“We started on the construction this week, and so far everything is looking good and going to plan,” he said.

Once the construction is complete Mr McCreedy said it should only take around three weeks to get them ready for the tenants to move in.

“They are serviced apartment blocks designed for short term accommodation,” he said.

Staff to help maintain the apartments will also be sought and will be employed prior to the arrival of tenants to get the apartments ready for their first occupants.

Quest Service Apartments national sales advisor, Russell Spurrell said staff will be interviewed around three months before the completion of the apartments.

“They will help to prepare each apartment for the tenants who will be using them,” he said.

The apartments will provide Singleton with it’s biggest accommodation complex yet, and should help to boost tourism in the town by freeing up existing accommodation facilities.

Marketed as a home away from home, the development consists of 35 apartments, 25 two-bedroom and 10 three-bedroom units that incorporate cooking facilities, bathroom, lounge room and laundry.

The complex will have its own gym and will connect with local restaurants to provide a facility in which tenants can order meals to be delivered to their room.
